My Professional Journey:

“Embarking on my journey in Educational Psychology has been like a heartwarming journey – a path filled with learning, growth, and the joy of helping children and families. My adventure began with a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 2011, a time when I first discovered my deep-seated passion for helping young minds flourish.

Moving forward, I pursued an Honors degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2012. This was a period of discovery and growth, where my love for understanding the minds and hearts of children deepened. It was here that I realized this wasn’t just a career for me, but a lifelong mission to support and uplift young learners.

After my studies, I stepped into the vibrant world of teaching at a Primary School. Every day in the classroom was a new adventure, filled with the smiles, challenges, and triumphs of my learners. These experiences were not just about teaching; they were about connecting, understanding, and nurturing the unique spirit of each child.

My curiosity and passion for understanding the psychological aspects of learning led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. Graduating with distinction and receiving the Dean’s medal in 2018 was a proud moment, but the true reward has always been the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

The transition from academia to my internship at a special school was a journey of practical learning and heartfelt encounters. Here, I refined my skills and deepened my understanding of how to best support the emotional and educational needs of children. My role as a full-time psychologist afterward allowed me to bring together all my learning and experiences to directly support, guide, and inspire children and their families.

Today, as a registered Educational Psychologist, every day is an opportunity to touch lives, foster growth, and celebrate the uniqueness of each child and family I work with. I bring together a rich tapestry of academic knowledge, practical experience, and a deep, heartfelt commitment to every child’s journey. Alongside these professional experiences, my own journey as a parent to two wonderful children further enriches my understanding and empathy. Together with the children and families I work with, we navigate the challenges, celebrate the victories, and build paths towards a brighter, more understanding world.”
